A Message from our Principal

The Briar Middle School Staff welcomes students in grades six through eight daily to our facility. Briar offers programs that are challenging and engaging for learners as we prepare you to continue your education at Perkins High School.

Classrooms at Briar are filled with the sounds of student conversation as our staff believes in collaboration, student directedscott matheny learning activities, and utilizing educational tools to their fullest extent. Students have an opportunity to explore engineering, computer basics, and robotics during their time at Briar. Our well rounded curriculum places a premium on the arts with visual art as well as performing arts options for each grade level. Gifted education and Algebra 1 are part of the academic selections that are available and some students will also take advantage of classes at Perkins High School in foreign language as a part of their school day, earning credits toward their high school graduation requirements.

If athletics are your area of interest, we offer a full range of fall, winter and spring athletic opportunities for our student athletes. Check out all the options under the "Athletics" tab.

Students will have a capstone experience in the eighth grade with a class trip each year to Gettysburg, Philadelphia and the Flight 93 Memorial in May.

Briar has a strong academic focus, but does not ever lose sight of the fact that we are working with children. Providing a safe learning environment, both physically and emotionally, is a priority for our administration, guidance counselor, and teaching staff. We fully expect your years at Briar to be among the most memorable and rewarding of your educational experience in Perkins Local Schools.
